Hi gang,

Off to the Yucatan for two weeks of relaxing in the sun with the wives and throwin a few flies around to boot. I'll post a small trip report when we get back. Gonna give the "Ultimate Shrimp" a real workout down there. Pass the Corona's and Tequila.

Later folks,

Henry

Hey gang,

It was a wonderful 2 weeks on the Maya Riviera. Spent a day fishing down around the bridge at Boca Paila but that was a bust because the large flat there was loaded with "Billions and Billions" of Mullet (spawning?). They had the water so stirred up it was almost impossible to spot bones. Did see a few but they were on the move and usually too close to get off an effective cast.

One morning fishing our resort beach (Barcelo Maya) I nailed 6 quick bones and a Mutton Snapper before we were cordially invited to refrain from fishing as Barcelo now considers it's beach and reef areas a "Zoneos Ecologicos" (#$122) ...Doh!...right...1030 room resort on the beach and I'm going to make a difference catching a few underutilized stupid fish. It hurt like hell to walk the beach each day and see schools of nice sized Snook so close to shore I could kick them. Oh yeah...had a big Permit follow and tip on my fly but my strip strike came up empty...typical I guess...exciting though.

All is okay...our trip was primarily a getaway with my wonderful wife and our friends. That part of the trip was fantastic and my batteries are fully recharged. Now if they will last only long enough to get me through the next 3 1/2 months till 22 days in Eleuthera.

Ha ha!...last week...they had a "Mr Tequila" competition (sort of a "Last man standing" thing). Go figure?...I won! Cool! (#$121)

PS...got mail today from Scott Leon managing editor of "FlyfishinginSaltwaters" magazine...My "Ultimate Shrimp" will be the feature fly on the "Tyers Bench" in the March/April issue.... --126-3-

Thanks a million mullet for asking guys,

Congratulations on making Fly Fishing in Salt Waters. I haven't been able to fish any shrimp patterns here due to the muddy water and lack of shrimp in the bays. Mostly a Trout bite for mullet right now.
Well deserved recognition coming your way... Snuffy

Congradulations on the magazine gig. Well deserved....very professional pattern....and in a world where we think everything has been done in fly tying...you have proved that wrong !!!
