great idea on that foam. did you think that up? that should push a ton of water.

How do you prevent it from spinning?

cool looking flies. do you cut the foam to shape and the tie on or thread on the hook before tying off?unless you retrieve a constant rate i wouldn't think that the would spin.

Always wondered why anyone would tie with disks. didn't think of bubbles.
I fish sliders alot in warm water.
As with my poppers, I use the lobster bouy foam, cut with a sloping head.

Hi
I preshaped the disks first then tie them in. As for preventing the spinning I placed some weight right before the hook eye, which is not a problem for the slidder to float. The other factor that will prevent it from spinning are the numerous layers of foam which are glued together to mantein the shape of the head, water will pass thru while it dives in producing the bubbles, I'll try to make some small holes in the foam to let more water pass and make more and more bubbles.
I guess it will also be a great fly for the surf, cudas and offshore dolphin.
Shaun send me some loabster foam, great popper material, how do you guys shape it for pencil poppers? Ive been shaping it for bangers but thats an easy one.
Thanks for your replies

Armando,
To cut lobster bouy foam pencil size, the best way would be to use a plug cutter, as you would use on a drill press.
I use a low tech sharpened piece of aluminum tubing
