Been lurking around for a while, and very impressed and have learned alot about fly tying from many of you in the last year or so. My fly tying has come full circle since beginning a bit over a year ago. Tied jigs for a while before, but no flies since I did not fly fish. That has all changed!!! Accomplished as far as freshwater goes down here in sunny FLA but still working on getting some big fish under my belt in the salt. Hope to tie in some of your swaps, and keep learning as well as hopefully teach others while I am here!!!!

Not much bigger, that one was 24inches and around 7-8lbs, biggest one this year. Hunting down the florida record which is 9lbs and a few oz's, so they don't bet much bigger. Have not been able to break 8.5lb mark though --124-3 But this coming season will be the one, have a couple spots marked with BIG fish. They should be lots of fun on my 5wt. :brow

Hey
That one in the pic is my biggest peacock, but I've got several in the 20 lbs range and lots in the 10 to 15 range. I tell you this guys are strong, very explosive and very very strong.
Right now I am planning my all the years trip to the Orinoco, the season has just began, summer is up. I think Ill be flying in January stay at least 15 days.
There are some other species in there that also kick ass. One of the best fishing plans in the world.
Heres a pic of a payara another superb specie in the Orinoco, this ones are also very strong but they are faster and man are they jumpers. 20 pounder!! Whatch out for those fangs:brow

Orinico?? Isn't that where they catch Dorados too??? There is a guy called Brazilian Guy on FS forum that also fishes and I think guides down there. Cool guy and man he catches some nice peacocks. You ever catch any arawana?? I have to make it down there some day soon!!!! Hopefully for next season! Cool payara too!

The Orinoco is one of the main rivers here, it passes thru Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. I fish it as well as all the rivers that end up in it. But sorry no Dorados.
I caught arwanas but in the Amazon, my biggest was a 9 pounder, they love poppers, and you can see there eyes with a flashlight just like alligators. Here you can find Dorados.
Best regards
Hope you can make it down here some day.
