Does anybody else know about this or am I alittle late on the uptake ? It's listed on their website under Retail Stores.
It says it'll be up and running by 2007 it'll be a 175,000 square foot facility which includes a full service fly shop and a 40,000 gallon freshwater aquarium.
Looks like we're gonna have another place to blow our extra cash.
Oh well..... :-%

Cabela's is great but don't forget those "mom & pops" that have been taking care of us all over the years.

Based on my experience with the store they opened last year a half-hour down the road from me in PA, it's not much to get excited about, past the aquarium. While they have a large freshwater spinning selection, their saltwater selection isn't incredible. And while I'm new on the fly, the room dedicated to that was nothing compared to a decent Orvis outfitter, in the way of selection.
More importantly for my wallet, their prices were bad. I've done much better with the mom &pops, and they also have a much better grasp of conditions. Cabelas starts feeling corporate, dare I say it, not long after you walk in the store. To me it's become a Wal-mart with deer heads and a different name, so I don't shop it, unless I need non-tackle gear that none of the local outfitters carry, or I simply don't need Patagonia for whatever the item is.
Now, if this whole sports and entertainment venue thing happens, with the shooting ranges and all of that, well that could be really interesting. They're proposing indoor skiing...just what Jersey has always been lacking.

man, i can't agree with brushfly more. in islamorada, they opened bass pro, it's called world wide sportsman there--and it kind of killed a lot of local guys' businesses. don't forget all the shops that you've patronised thru the years where you can sit, talk and have a cup of coffee. because all of these mega-monster corporate tackle shops are running them all out of business! and i think that sucks.

I'll second that, Danny. Try getting drag washers or a new line roller for your 5 year old Penn reel from a "MegaMart." They'll make the original sale, but forget about the service after the sale. I support my local stores for just that reason.
