Has anyone been to Peace and Plenty on Exuma? I talked my wife out of Disney, and we decided on the Bahamas. From the description Peace and Plenty looks like it's not too remote but still may have decent fishing.

EAN: The first year we visited Great Exuma, we were booked at the older Peace & Plenty. For an asst. of reasons, once we arrived, we decided to switch over to their sister lodge, The Bonefish Lodge a mile down the road, which is serviced by the same fleet of guides. Much smaller and catering more to the bonefisherman. Very nice lodge. Guides will pick you up via boat at 8AM at the lodge. Went back the next year as well. First trip was in March, second in February. Winds worse in March but fishing lacking in February. My feeling is it all depends on how your guide "works" the flats assigned to him. If they've been worked the day before, your fishing will be lacking on that flat. Or quite possibly, that specific and "prerequested" flat wouldn't be worked the following day at all, so as to "rest" the flat, thus, preventing you from fishing it at all! We didn't find the fishing to be that great although others rave about fishing Great Exuma with their "favorite" booked ahead guides who cater to them on their specifically requested flats area for their entire stay. If the best flats are constantly requested, of course they are either overfished or never shown to those not "requesting" them. On our two trips there, we never could figure out why we weren't being shown flats holding lots of fish; often the guide would wade the flats with us swearing "the fish were here yesterday; I know they're here" type thing. We'd wade for two hours, but were never shown a bonefish to cast to. We moved on to other islands as a result of what we considered "favoritism" to certain repeat clients at the lodge. Maybe now that the guides have formed their own association, freeing them from dealing strictly with the lodges, the conditions I mentioned might have changed. Good luck if you go. PS: If your wife is not a fisherman, there is very little for her to do in Great Exuma other than the boat trip to Stocking Island which sometimes goes and sometimes doesn't. If she kayaks, The Bonefish Lodge does have a couple of kayaks you can use (use them to look for bonefish between the Lodge and Stocking Island!), or old time bikes to pedal to a deserted beach with a box lunch. Otherwise, no pool at the Bonefish Lodge and no beach. Check to see if there is one at P&P.

How about coming to Abaco? Pleanty of Bonefish flats, plenty of fish and not a big bonefish lodge with lots of guides. Great beaches, good resturants and great snorkling. Check out the cottages on Lubbers Quarters Lubbers is one of the closest destinations to some of the best Bonefishing.
