It seems Eleuthera makes up the bulk of people seeking info on DIY bone fishing these days. It seems everyone on this board is going there these days.
Between the three salt water forums I visit, I'll bet I've given insrtuctions to at least 8-10 guys in the past three months alone just on Eleuthera.

The last time I was there (three years ago), Eleuthera was certainly "discovered". I was almost never alone on the more popular places. It was only when I went to the spots which required a long, tough drive, and a longer arduous walk through ankle deep mangroves was I able to find solitude.
This seems to be one of those cases where it's possible the interent might be doing more harm than good?

I was there for 8 days in mid-December and I didn't see anyone fishing on the entire island until the day I left......In the words of Napoleon Dynamite, "It was SWEET!"

jfairclough,

That's the beauty of Nov/Dec fishing, solitude. No one seems to want to go fishing then, the days are shorter, the first winter cold fronts can chase a lot of the fish off the flats and everyone is preoccupied with the upcoming holiday season. However, if you are prepared to take the bad days as they come and make the best of whatever the weather gods throw your way, you will likely find solitude and big bones that haven't seen a fly in months.

Come back three to five months later in the "prime time" if you like spooky bones and the company of other anglers!

Over the last four years the Eleutheran experience has gone from solitude to searching for flats where you can fit in a rod. Too bad....but that's progress, I guess. From mid February on the traffic gets progressively worse. My pals and I are looking for another remote DIY island. Any suggestions?

That's really weird to hear after my experience. I guess I know to go in December if I'm going to go again. I didn't see a soul....only BIG BIG bones! Beginners luck I guess?

Over the past few years I have fished four different Bahamian Islands at some point in every month from Novmber through April. My experience has been to expect company in March and April particularily on the DIY flats you can drive to. You won't be the only angler on the island in February and January, but I wouldn't call it crowded. November and December can be down right lonely if you want to talk bonefishing to someone else (and these are by far the best months for big bones on the flats - February comes in a close second!)
