View Full Version : the storm
Lets contemplate this: the western long island sound forecast is calling for 6 to 10 foot seas and 4 1/2 foot high tides. the coastal forecast is for 14-18 foot seas. That's a storm.
I live in nyc, so don't have to shovel any snow, but the serious bummer is that for about the past dozen years, have done a championship football game watch at a particular sports bar in nyc with a bunch of lifelong friends who mostly now live in the 'burbs. Usually one of my fav days of the year. Alas, given forecast, looks like this event is toast.

Don't worry, Frank. Only 57 days until Spring--that's less than 2 months. Stripers on the flats only a few weeks thereafter . . . . :-%

Wow...that is a big storm. I'll be out east next weekend and will check out the beaches. i was out there over New Years and was amazed at the erosion at Gibson beach, itwas about an 8 foot drop from the parking lot. Enjoy the snow.

Yeah, its gonna be nasty. The LI sound forecast is now saying that tides are going to be up to 7 feet above normal. Reading the forecast scientific discusssion, it said flooding is basically going to be comparable to a category 1 'cane.
