Anyone have any suggestions for a decent trout location that might be 1/2 way between Boothbay and Boston? I'm thinking somewhere along the NH/ME border, rivers only please. A buddy of mine is getting up there in years and the 4 hour drives to Moosehead are beginning to catch up. Appreciate any suggestions. Also as an option, what about York or Wells for stripers as a possibility?. Any decent flats that work well in July/August? I'm not sure how many trips we'll have left together so any decent spots appreciated. If you prefer to go of line;

Try the Mousam River in Kennebunk. You can fish for stripers anywhere south of Rt. 9(?), or you can venture a little further upstream for sea run brown trout. Not sure that the trout will be too cooperative in August though.
Should be plenty of info on the Mousam in various books on stripers (50 Striper Hot Spots by Daignault). Local fly shop in York is pretty good, but I cannot remember the name. If you have a yak, you can get to some great spots on this river or any of the tidal rivers along the coast.
Good luck!
P.S.--Try a beer at the Shipyard if you are there :-%

try the isingglass along 26 in the rochester NH area as well as the Cochecho around Farmington The Merrymeeting river as it dumps into alto bay puts up salmon right after ice out and I know you said rivers but you should really try Great East Lake by the dam in the sw corner football browns on deep black wooley buggers-damn I'm killing myself here at least 6-7 more weeks until iceout good luck
