Anyone have any real time use of this reel series??
I found a good buy on the 3 Wide which would make a nice striper/blue/albie/bone reel.
Thanks,

Personally, I like the 3W and, depending how good the deal is, I would definitely use it for stripers and blues. I have never caught an albie or bonefish, but I would guess that for those fast running fish, one might want a reel with a drag. On the other hand, its hard to beat the reel weight to backing capacity ratio you get with a 3W compared to most comparably priced large arbor, disc drag reels.

I fished the Loop last summer. Picked it up on E-Bay for a great price. The first Albie I caught on it was only 5 pounds or so but it tore a LOT of line off the reel. You can only go to a certain point on the drag with this reel and that is it. There is no cranking it down, so you have to be real comfortable with palming the reel to get the extra stopping / slowing power.
I like the reel a lot, but it is going on my 9wt. only for Stripers / Blues this season. I'll stick with my Van Staal for the funny fish.

The Loop models mentioned don't feature a mechanical drag, more like a biological drag. --125-3
