Hi,
I didn't post here for a while but I can smell spring time is coming (soon I hope).
I am on the market for a 7wt travel rod (4pc).
I own a TFO pro 9wt which is my striper's rod. Those sticks are very good for the money, but to me, my TFO pro feels on the med-fast side rather than a real fast rod.
I am looking for a little bit faster rod for my 7wt rod.
So I am looking toward the TiCR :brow . But I am slightly concerned by numbers of post about overlining them to slow them down (#$119) Are they to fast ??
I am also looking as the other good deals like the Redington Wayfarer or RS2, the Albright A5 or GP, and the ECHO.
How would you classified them on a medium-to-fast action scale compare to the TFO pro.
Unfortunatly I can't try them because they are not in the shops near my place. I didn't try the TFO pro neither before buying, I just trusted you guys and it worked so I am doing it again

Hey Guile,

If you think the Pro is med-fast, I think you'll find the TiCr just about perfect. I've got a 8wt TiCr and it's great in the wind and for throwing heavy tips; my friend has the 7wt TiCr and it's definitely got a lighter feel than the 8wt, but it's still a fast rod.

Depending on what species you're after, and what conditions you'll be fishing, the 7wt is a great tool; if you need a heavier backbone for lifting fish, or if you'll be fishing windy conditions or fishing heavy shooting heads, the 8wt is a better choice (the 8 seems to be substantially 'heavier' in action than the 7, the 8 is noticeably more 'tippy' and stiff). But both the 7wt and the 8wt whipped a bunch of heavy chums (to 22lbs) for us last fall! I know you asked about a 7wt, but I wanted to provide my experience with both rods for comparison's sake. For the steelheading and salmon fishing we do up here, about 90% of the time I wish I went with the lighter 7wt, but when you're hooked into a 20lb fish, even the 8 can feel light.

If you're worried about the TiCr being too fast, remember that TFO still has the TiCr-X series of extra-fast rods... those rods really are extra-fast, your timing has to be spot-on. To some, the Pro series feel like fast rods; if the Pro feels more like a med-fast to you, I think you'll be happy with the TiCr.

I agree that if you want a faster rod than the Pro, you may really like the TiCr.

Don't forget that TFO has an un-conditional money-back guarantee, so if you must order it, and it turns out to not be perfect for you, you may return it.

How is it that you live in Boston, yet you say you can not try the rod before buying?

Ok thanks for your advices.

I live in Boston, but I don't have a car, and there's no shop that have the TFO downtown Boston....
