Forum,
In December I explained a negative experience that I had with St. Croix. I finally received the fixed rod, went fishing and after catching my 2nd striper of the day it snapped again (Premier 8'6 casting rod). While trying to catch and release the fish the top section gave. I failed to mention that the first break, the one while casting a 1.5 oz. spoon, was the bottom section that snapped, right where the rod connects. So now both sections had snapped! I called St. Croix and immediately asked for a supervisor. I told her that I didn't want the rod fixed or a replacement of the same model (Premier 8'6 casting rod). She asked me for the model # of the rod I was interested in and told me to just wait its arrival (8' tidemaster xhxf!). And, when it arrived I was to put the snapped Premier in the tube that the Tidemaster was sent in and just drop it off at UPS, the shipping and handling would be paid by St. Croix.
I'm quite satisfied with the Tidemaster (plugging and throwing various lures) and even bought another (7' mhf).
I have heard of several problems concerning the Premier. I bought a Chaos surf rod (9' 12 - 20 H) to replace what it was that I wanted the St. Croix Premier surf to do i.e. throw worms and clams from the surf. The Chaos surf rod is fantastic, aesthetically and functionally.

I have own and fished st croixs for years and have found them great. I have never broken a st croix rod and just recentl built an 8 foot 17-36 pound one peice rod for big bass in the delaware river. one peice rods are the way to go.

Have fished a St. Croix Legend 8wt for the past 4 years and absolutely love it. Glad that you got taken care of.
