Now that I learned how to actually post pics I figured I would showcase this nice atlantic I caught down the cape a few months ago. Boy do I miss open water and stripers.

that is a big Cape salmon. How'd it taste?(looks like he's not getting released in that photo)
I'm assuming that's one of the brood-stockies...
What'd he eat? Were you targeting that or were you just trout fishing?
Again, nice fish!

Yeah he was delicious. I was actually targeting them. We caught a couple real nice ones this year at both Long pond in Plymouth and Peters down the cape. This one came from peters and took a nice size shiner. However, the others were taken on artificials and if you can find a lucky craft pointer in a local tackle shop I suggest you grab some. They are fairly expensive for a hard jerkbait but, I have litteraly caught everything from broodstocks, trout, and all bass species. Stripers love them. They are roughly 17$ a pop. He was the only one we kept because he was severley stressed out and could not close his mouth after landing him. There are still a good amount of these guys in both peter's and cliff's but have not heard too much about lond pond lately. What a fight and really nice colors. Thanks for your compliments. :)

Hell of a nice fish! I saw a few BIG ones cruising by the boat launch at Sheeps a few years back, they had to be 15+ lbs...
Nice fish. W --127-3- here on the cape are there salmon? I never knew.

Looks like there are 4 different kinds. Sinking, Floating, Deep-Diving and Jointed versions. Kind of reminds me of the old Rapala Shad Rap(similar suspended crankbait) which used to be my go-to.....if I'm going to spend $15-18 bucks on a freshwater lure I need to know exactly which one to get....thanks for the reference-they look like a a freshwater Yozuri(and ouch are maybe even more expensive).
Thanks again

The jointed ones are the ones I use. I either use the rainbow trout colored one and the shad colored one but, they all work well. I know they are pricey and when a pickeral gets one it sucks but, they definitely work. Give one a try and good luck.

Nice fish. I landed one about the same size about 10 years ago on Peters using spoons, specifically a brass colored Super Duper. I was after trout, not salmon, and was using a 5 and 1/2 foot ultralight trout rod with 4 lb test line. Next thing I know, I feel a heavy weight which starts shaking and then this huge fish goes airborne and belly flops on the water. Then *I* start shaking  . It was a miracle I landed that thing, considering the wimpy tackle and no landing net.-bd
