Hi Folks: Looking for some new toys, I'm doubting between TFO Ticr X and POwell Timax. What can you tell me about the TFO?

I am owner of two TFO TiCR rods: 8# and 9#, 4 piece rods. I have used the 8# since one year back for Bonefish in windy conditions and with heavy flies, as well as for Pike fishing at home. The 9# I have used for Jacks and plan to use it at home for Pike, to cast huge flies.
I am very, very pleased with the rods. They are fast enough for saltwater fishing, allowing tight loops and long distance casts with accurracy. The 9# is powerful and feels more like a #9 1/4, possibly 9 1/2.
I have also casted the #7 in the series and it is the one I liked most. (I still haven't bought any, yet will say...)
The finish, reel seat, guide and cork quality is avove what you can expect given the price tag (~180-200 EURO in Euroland ).
I know of 4 fishing pals that also have TFO rods. All of them are happy.
Last, a note regarding the warranty: The TFO policy is, I quote:
"Temple Fork Outfitter's NO-FAULT WARRANTY on ALL TFO rods is for the life of the original registered owner. Simply return a damaged rod with $25 for shipping & handling, and TFO will repair or replace your rod. "
On my last trip I broke the ferrule between the tip and next segment. The retailer where I bought the rod (Salmon Fly in Copenhagen) immediately ordered two new rod segments for me, no questions asked, charging me the equivalent of 25 USD in local currency when I get them delivered. So the warranty seems so far to up to par with what TFO claim.
With this recent experience in mind, I must simply strongly recommend the TFO TiCR series. You will of course find faster, lighter, stronger, more beautiful etc rods (at a higher price tag) but I have a hard time to believe you will find any rod that today exceeds the price/performance/quality/warranty.

Me too, and I'm about to leave for a club meeting to put several other rods of other brands up for sale ... about half a dozen that I have replaced or will with TFO's of various models. Well said.

I have a TiCR 5/7/9 and am extremely happy with all three. Those are the only rods I use.

Tord, I am with you word for word. I own fifteen fly rods, out of which three are TFO's. My favorite rod is the seven weight four piece Saltwater series. (I think it may be called Professional Series now). Second for me is the eight weight TiCr. I have the opportunity to cast many of the TFO rods. They ALL throw a ton of line.

Hi
I have to add my word to yours.
Since I bought my tfos ticr, after a good research and lot s of questions even to Rick Pope at TFO who answered every question I asked about them, which is great costumer service I decided for the #6 Ticr for inshore and some light action in the Ornoco river. The rod was awesome, shoot line the way I like it, far and easy and had good power lifting even on some lunkers I never expected. So I decided to buy the #8 and tested it in the Orinoco with peacocks and payaras, no problem casting heavy large flies, handled every fish with confidence and decided to look no more.
I am sticking to TFO, and willl advice to anyone to go for them.
Best regards
