take it to a ALternator/motor shop and have it re-built in a day for about $40 bucks. slap it back in and git. only 2 bolts

This makes the most sense. Probably needs new brushes or something else simple. I remember having alternator problems on one of my cars back in college. It just flat quit working. To the alternator shop, the repairman replaced a 10 cent diode and I was outa there within 10 minuets after I paid him a whopping $4!
