You're a little early, season doesn't open on the reservoir until April 1. If you dare to show up on opening day, be sure to wear elbow pads to help wedge yourself into a spot on shore.
Right now the only open water I've seen is under the causeway by the old stone church and at the mouth of the Quinnie.

Good point Eddy...I forgot about that one small detail!
Jimi should bring those elbow pads if he goes anywhere near the Stillwater too!
I should read the abstracts before I make my plans.... I was so busy last year, I didnt go out much. I think I can wait another week or so....
how are these perch aquired? They sell them at bait shops? Or do I have to collect them the old Fashioned way? Poor yellow perch. All our favorite game fish love to pray on them!

Went by there this weekend and it will be a couple of weeks before it is open. There is no real open water at all, just the typical areas around the outflow of the bridges. The Stillwater is running free and has started to open up the basin area. That can be fished and is a good bet for lakers and salmon. I did not go down to the RR bridge but that typically has open water around it as well.
Saw people on the ice at A1 as well. Looks like a few more weeks of cabin fever, allthough I may do a cod trip this weekend to help keep me sane. Anyone been to Quabin? Is that any better than Wachusett?
Tim

Jimi Don't bring any tools or sharp objects with you to Wachusett this Saturday they will be confiscated. Hope you enjoy the strip search. Wachusett is not going to open until April 9th or later. When you bought your license(Ihope) you got a copy of the abstracts, in it you'll find a phone number to call about opening date for Wachusett. Oh, and by the way to answer another post about a throw net, he's a strong candidate for becoming your cell mate, I am really fed up with "fishermen" who don't know the regulations. For Gods sake go to MASSWILDLIFE web site and learn something, PLEASE.

Saw a guy fishing at the mouth of the Quinnie last Sat., maybe twenty paces from the bridge. Jeez, if you're gonna blow off the law, at least show a little discretion. Sorry I didn't have the cell on me, would have called the EPOs.
