Looking not to break the bank on a 10 to 11 wt reel. These two seem to come up as good values. I don't have the opportunity to handle or try these before buying. Any opinions on these? They'll probably get saltwater use for a week or so a year.

The integrity is a cast reel, and if I am recalling right the Trion is machined.I had a Integrity in the 7/8 and it would'nt fit my rods,if you have higher end gear make sure it fits. The reel foot on a cast reel is a little fatter and wo'nt fit rods like sage,t7t or orvis.I would add a couple bucks and go with the Ross Cimmaron, best bang for the buck.Mike.

okuma just released a new reel called the helios....you might want to check it out..another reel I found recently was made by Wright & McGill (albiet for a little more money). I held it at the wilington fly fishing show. This was a high quality piece. I think you can find them both at cabelas...http://cabelas.com/
in the fly fishing section. good luck

Thanks for the suggestion about the Helios but I don't think I can put enough line on it. I'll be using a 10/11 setup for Dorado initially.

My Okuma Integrity 10/11 has landed several lemon and blacktip sharks from 4 - 7 feet long. Blacktips are an exceptionally hot fish and the okuma has performed flawlessly. The reel may be cast and it will scuff but it is a very smooth, functioning reel. I havn't fished the biggest trion reel, they seem very well made. I have both the intregrity and the trion in an 8/9 reel. For a bonefish reel, the 8/9 trion works very well. You can set the Integrity's drag tighter if that is a concern.

Just got back from Freeport after 4 days of bonefishing with Grand Bahama Bonefishing. Guide, Jeffrey Pinder got us into bones within half an hour of reaching the flats. Fished a TFO Professional 8 wt 6 piece married to a Pflueger Trion 9/10 reel. Took a Tioga 8 LA reel as well but fished the Trion first since we were fishing in 20-30 knot winds the first day we were out and the Trion had shooting head line. Had 6 hook ups the first day but broke them off using 10 pound tippet. Eventually over the 3 days of fishing had 15 hookups and boated 6 after switching to 16 pound tippet. The Trion reel performed flawlessly with more than enough drag to control the 5-6 pound fish I caught. Am very pleased with the reel and would recommend it to anyone. Its obviously not a Tibor, Abel or Ross and perhaps it won't hold up as well if I fished the salt exclusively but it did the job for the time I fished it. Had hoped to use the Tioga as well but had no reason to switch with the Trion working as well as it did. BTW for those of you that are interested in fishing in the Bahamas I highly recommend the Pinder Brothers and Grand Bahama Bonefishing. Jeffrey and David Pinder are outstanding guides and very patient. This was my first flyfishing trip for bones and casting into the wind was quite an experience but the Pinders worked with me and guaranteed that I caught fish in spite of my my being a rookie. --127-3-

I have a 9/10 Trion, used it a couple of times aweek last yr. when I was using a 9wt. I really like it, not a spot of corrosion and very smooth. The only thing I am not crazy about is the drag knob. For me it seems a little awkward. We also have the Integrity where I work, but I have yet to use one.

I had an integrity a few years ago. I religiously wash and disect equipment to lube it up after use. In 1 season that reel coroded so bad that most the finish was gone (painted not annodized). By Fall the drag had seezed then snapped and gone to free spool. Until then, the drag was good and never had a problem but it wore out pretty fast (I think 1 season is fast).

Sounds like your use will be more light (I used mine 3-5 days a week that year). I have to wonder about the shelf life of that reel given how much I cleaned and lubed mine and it still disintigrated. While I had it, it took quite a bit of abuse bouncing off rocks, kayak dunkings etc. So I was happy with it for $50 despite it falling apart.

You can't beat the price of the Integrity. They can be had really cheaply on EBAY.

After a season I had the same corrosion problem but sent it back and Okuma replaced it. I have been told that they have moved to annodized, but have not confirmed it.

I will find out this week if they now anodize the integrity. We carry the Okuma line.
