View Full Version : Gloss Coat
I'm new to the new system and posted a similar message on the New England board w/ little response. So I will try here. A buddy introduced me to a product called "Gloss Coat". Works similar to an epoxy. Much easier to work w/ and a lot better looking. I am having trouble finding it around the boston/Cape area. I picked up some Orvis Gloss head Cement, but that dries too quickly. Also tried some stuff at a local crafts store, but had the same problem. Anyone seen this product? Thanks in advance.
Matt,
I haven't seen it and I am not a fan of using epoxies for anthing other than making sure eyes stay on (thanks LB).
I have been using Loctite Qucktite for 2 seasons with no failures whatsoever. It's a superglue you can get with a brush, in gel or liquid. I use clear mono thread for most of my tying and with the a thin Loctite coating, you have a rock-hard clear head that is the same color as the material on your fly. If you want a solid head & use floss, you get a nice shiney (sp?) finish that looks like it's been epoxied.
Just my $.02 + some change.
