I had a great experience last Sat. afternoon, I caught my first small mouth. It was at this small pond by by house here on the South Shore, (south of Boston). The only down side is the small pond was previously a large pond until its owner put a bulldozer to its damm in a attempt to drain it during a long battle with the town. The owner lost the piece of property during the court battle and is now has a new owner. For a reason I know not, the town did not make the previous owner fix the damm. I heard now that repairing the damm is impossible because earthen damms are not allowed to be built anymore. Is this true? and if so. If wild beaver took up living in this pond and do what beavers do, build damms. Would the new owner by law have to leave the damm or can it be removed? Also, what about trapping beaver is this still against the law?

Good fishing only one "DAMM BEAVER" away.

thanx

Just be careful man, you've seen what they do to trees, I can only imagine what they could do to your arm.

If a beavers dammed up that watercourse, it would be very difficult to get them out and the resulting pond would be legal. It is very hard to get rid of/trap out beavers under current state law (passed by referendum vote at the instigation of animal rights groups). Beavers are cute and industrious and often create nice fish ponds for trout or otherwise (except when they take down the trees you don't want taken down). Unfortunately, they also often pass bacteria in the water that make the trots look like a good thing.
