View Full Version : A much Better day Than Expected

Planned for rain this saturday 4/23 but we had a fairly dry bright day in the Cotuit area. The herring were running strong all day regardless of the tide. Those that know the pools best were able to get their 15 herring limit in 5-10 minutes. Tried a local estuary mid-day with no bumps. Came back later when the day had heated things up and it was the last of the outgoing. Joined two others that visit this board and the three of us proceeded to catch schoolies in a very sporadic manner. Size ranged from near 20" to 12", I started with a heavy clousser that produced the first fish quickly but lost the fly on the bottom. Switched to a tsunami on the spinning reel and continued to land fish. Tide and moon were rising and since I was dressed for warm daylight, I called it quits. But the others <After a lull> were still getting an occasional fish as I left. It was great fishing with you guys, how did it go after I left?

Watching the TV "meterologists" yesterday try to tapdance around explaining the unforecasted sunny slot on the Cape yesterday would be entertaining if it weren't so irritating. By now I should know better (#$119) .

Was in Cotuit on Friday afternoon. Last half of the outgoing. Got three schoolies on a Chart/Yellow clouser. The bite was pretty slow, but it was great to have a fish on.

The few fish that I saw were bright and had lice.

Bob, it was great meeting you. We left shortly after you did, but I did visit that spot again last night and it was very slow. We only managed a couple between the three of us. I did notice somebody fishing the point to the left for a few minutes. That looks like a place to try at night in a couple of weeks :brow . See ya soon!!
