Hello,

I've heard that there is some very good fishing in the marsh areas around the Meadowlands in NJ and was wondering if anyone could fill me in on that a little more. Are there places to wade or would I need a boat? I'd prefer to wade it but I'm not quite sure where to go. I've heard that its a popular kayak spot but I'm not quite sure from where you would launch. Could you use something larger than a kayak? I've only ever seen it as I drive by, is the water very deep in these spots, is it as "marsh like" as it looks from the road? Do people blind cast in this area, or are they chasing around the bait and birds like they do on the shore? When do things start to heat up in this spot? I'd appreciate any advice I can get about this area and how it fish it.

Regards,
Tom

You should try the Hackensack. There is a ramp in Secaucus. I tried it earlier and we marked lots of fish, but it might have been to early. The water moves fast and its deep.

Thanks for the advice, I know Andrew and Steve from Tight Lines very well. I was under the impression that the marshy area around the meadowlands was a popular striper spot with the kayaking crowd. Although I'm not a kayaker myself, I thought there might be some good spots around there were I get to with a canoe.
