Yep. I heard things were going off there yesterday. Might have to load up the kayak and drive out to jbay for a paddle (assuming I can find some free time over the weekend).

Fished J-Bay today (sat) with buddy matt and johnny mac, we had a window of decent weather from 6-10am. We had fish busting smaller bunker on top for 3 hours straight, they hit poppers, 1/2n1/2s, deceivers, clousers anything we threw they hit, color , size, retreive, didn't matter. fish finder was completely blacked out with fish. Stripers were all schoolies from 12-26". after catching fish on literally every cast for a couple hours we went in search of bigger fish. We found a school of bunker being harrassed in close to the beach back by the airport, but we were chased out by airport security after taking just one fish.........Great way to start the season!

Iwan, how was your charter with Chan. I'm the fellow who went with Brendan. I picked up ten fish, with none bigger than one 28". It was great pickin up bass with planes going overhead. In the middle of the tide it was real tough to pick up fish though.

After we left the Marine Parkway Bridge area we headed into the back bay around JFK. Marked a lot of fish deep down (20 - 30 ft) and managed to get a few on fast sinking lines and large bunker patterns. There were some real cow bass in the mix but we were only hooking the smaller fish like you.
Great to meet you and stay in touch.

This is what the screen looked like all morning.........Only trouble was trying to get a fly to some bigger fish......

We marked a lot of fish in the back bays around JFK on Friday also.
Some real cows in the mix but we mostly took bass from 20 - 25 inches. As you mentioned it was hard getting the fly to the bigger fish. It's a hard life !
Look like you had a blast Peter.........

Fished J-bay Sunday morning by airport via kayak. Nice until wind and rain picked about 8:00am or so. Tried to play with bass busting bunker on surface by railroad bridge but couldn't get any interest. Switched to olive and white clouser from chartreuse and picked up a couple of schoolies and hooked a decent bass (30" or so) which pulled me around in a circle for a few minutes before my fly came slingshotting back towards me. Oh well. By that point, I had been blown down towards the pier and had some work to get back to launch point. Will try MPB and the lower bay next weekend if weather permitting.
