I plan on heading to Duxbury Sat. for a lacrosse game. Are there any ponds nearby that I could fish just to kill time before the game? Thanks for any info.

Forget the ponds, the closest fishing to there is for stripers just down the road at the bridge. I've been fishing over there a few times this year, nothing yet, but the stripers have to be showing up soon. It's about a 2 minute drive from the high school, where I assume the lacrosse game is being played. There's also a winding tidal stream out behind the high school where I spotted a few fish last year.

I really don't have my saltwater gear ready yet.....I have most of my freshwater gear already in back. Just want to fish for a bit then go to game. Thanks.

Head further south to Plymouth. There are numerous ponds there to hit for trout or warm water species. If you do not have a canoe, forget Long Pond. However, there's any number of other places. Look at the pond maps on the DFW site.

I fish a place called North Hill. It's right behind the North Hill golf course on Rt 3A. Some BIG BASS. There is acces through some town land on Mayflower St. You might have to look at a map. I usually bring a canoe.

I second Island Creek Pond. Located on Toabe Garden Street about .5 miles from Route 3A inersection opposite the MilePost restaurant/Catholic Church. Easy fish from open beach area (public). Bring waders if possible. Good bass at times before weeds choke out water. Very shallow.

If tide is right (on the high end) you might find first stripers in Bluefish River...located on Washington Street very near schools. One can fish at a little dock near the bridge, public land, located behind an old firehouse/harbormaster shed. Freshwater gear would suffice, but not sure fish have arrived.

Other recommended areas good also.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. ..I did find and fish Island Creek Pond,....nada thing. It was good to get out and fish some new water(s). If I had more time ,I would have tried the other one ...North Hill. Maybe next year,if we come down to play Duxbury (lacrosse) again. Thanks.
