Fished with Haden for a little over an hour this am. Brought the 8wt for a change, he caught a few pickerel before his rod snapped. I hooked into a nice bass and had the leader inside the top guide before he buried me in the weeds and shook the hook, no giant but a solid 3-4 pounder, biggest largemouth I have ever hooked on a fly.

Ya that was a good fish (#$119)JK that rod really took a beating and it finnally gave out --124-3 It was nice meeting you Tsheehy, and hope to and meet more reel-timers soon ;)

(#$119) what was that for! I didn't mention you snapped the rod yankin your fly out of a bush ;) That rod has seen many a spring though!

Looks like the bass are moving up into spawning locations, for the past week they've been right tight to shore, haven't seen any beds yet though.

Good to put faces to names on here as well.

Most excitement for me was when I ran into one of Haden's 10# snapping turtles which made me do an abrupt about-face as I was trudging through the slop.

Nothing big for me, 3 or 4 pickerel, and two bass.. one trout sized and one about a pound and a half. Did a drive by at Rock's Village, but wasn't motivated enough to get back out into the rain.

Okay.So ,where is this local "reservoir"? anywhere near I95?. I'm pretty sue it's not that hard to find. I did the freshwater flyrod bassing years ago, nothing like a 2.5-3.lb. smallie hitting a topwater fly!

It's on the Newburyport, West Newbury Line, it has 2 dams and 2 bridges. No boats allowed, which is a dam shame, even a kick boat could lead to some amazing fishing just a few hundred yards offshore...

Always nice to put a face to a name, I bet it won't be the last time we run into each other this season.

Drove by early....7:30 or so.
Saw a guy catch a "pencil pickeral" on minnows/shiners from bridge.
Also drove by Rock's Village. 2 guys fishing, nothing happening at the time.
