I'm gonna catch a striper before I catch a trout this year. This is impossible.

I went to the Swift on Saturday, and it looked like a miniature Kennebec. It was extremely high and fast, and the fish were struggling to keep their holding spots. It was nuts. We've had some nice weather this spring but the timing and intervals of rain have just douched the rivers so badly that it seems futile.

Forget the fact that it's beautiful all week and rainy on the weekends! Someone up there hates us.

Any success stories about New England trout fishing this year that don't involve split-shot, sink-tips and tandem hooks?

yep, but you'll have to travel to CT.

and listen to Jackie...head to the farmington.. this weekend will more likely than not be jammed with anglers but, that being said, i just checked one of the websites that posts conditions on the farmington and saw that it was 550 cfs and dropping....most of the guys down there want to catch them on top...and wouldnt we all but that being said, it gives the intelligent angler the oppurtunity to hammer fish on nymphs. which is exatly what i do everytime i go down there. was down about 3 weeks ago and the river was devoid of any 'dry only' types...and wouldnt you know it...everybody was hooking fish.

Good tip. I've thought about going down there a few times but I'm more inclined to go North. Problem with that is, the melt is still on!

Yeah, I've never had much success early on in the season with dries. Of course, it's not like I'm gonna stop trying! Is the Farmington the river in CT with the famous shad run? I honestly don't know anything about Connecticut (except that there's an EPIC shad run there!)

I read that Quabbin was at 99% capacity and that they were going to start releasing from the spillway. This might be the reason for the conditions up there. Anyone know if they've started doing that yet?

This will definitely hurt the fishing on the Swift for awhile.
