Do a google search on Nervous Waters Flyfishing. They guide on Oahu. Haven't been out with them but I've heard good things.

I have fished w/ Clayton and Kevin from Nervous Waters quite a few times. Class act guys that run a great operation. Actually, of all the guides that I have fished with, they are my favorite. Bonefishing in Oahu is a bit different that other locations. Typically you have to battle some pretty bad trade winds. Also, you have to fish a lot harder ,than say the Bahamas, to land any. But, the silver lining is the average size. Generally speaking the fish are bigger. Personally, I would give up #'s for size. I have spent plenty a day wading the flats in Oahu and come up on the short end of the stick. But, all you need is one fish to make it worth your while. Feel free to shoot me an email if I can answer any specific questions.

Jamie,
Thanks for the reference; I am hearing a lot of good things about Clayton & Sean & Kevin.
I am thinking about bringing a 9 wt. Albright travel rod with a 9 wt. floating line, and maybe a I'll buy a 10 wt. floating line as well. Joel at Kaufmann's Streamborn told me to use heavier flies that what I have used in the Bahamas because he said that the water you fish is deeper. He suggested buying some patterns from Nervous Waters' shop. I will, but I would like your recommendations for patterns, sizes, and colors if you don't mind. And any other particulars to bonefishing in Hawaii.
Thanks.

Vic-
The suggestions given to you are right on. IMHO, you want "meatier" flies. I have always loved Borski "style" flies, which have a tendacy to be "meatier" (I have no idea why I can't find a better word to describe it than "meatier~sorry). Sliders and Chernobyls are probably good places to start. If I were you, and I was planning on taking a trip to Oahu to fish w/ Kevin or Clay (I don't know Sean), I would simply call or email them and ask them what you should be tying. I went there for 4 years....2 years I fished on my own (before they started the guide service) and the remaining 2 I fished with them. The first 2 years I caught zero fish in Hawaii. After learning a few things (actually I learned a ton) and spots from them, I was able to roll out of bed, hop over the seawall and had a pretty good shot at catching fish on my own. I have done plenty of DYI fishing trips and I have never been more humbled that Oahu. So...to make a long story short, use their expertise. They are very knowledgeable guides.
Also, if you are going over, you may want to ask about Peacock Bass fishing on Lake Wilson. I did it every year and really enjoyed it. I heard that the Peacock Bass were having problems, but maybe the have bounced back. It's worth a shot.

Just sopke with Kevin at Nervous Water. They have been catching some nice bonefish. A friend of mine who dunks bait (squid) from a kayak has taken some huge bonefish this week... up to 12 pounds.... right off Waikiki.
Speaking of Waikiki, the Ala Wai Canal that seperates Waikiki from the rest of the island is loaded with baracuda and GT. DO NOT eat any fish from the Ala Wai. I guess that's why the fishing is so good... the locals are afraid to eat the fish from there. We were catching fish in the 1/2 to 2 pound range. Great fun on light tackle.
The Peacock bass are schooling and chasing shad in Wahiawa Res. We have been taking 30+ fish every day for over a week. All the fish are right at 2 pounds, but we did get a few 3# ones fishing a sinking line. My son has been using his 2# test outfit and is having a ball.
Aloha,
Stan
