I have a Jones Bros. 1910LT that does not have a leaning post. They sell one for about $600 that is truly a leaning post - no sitting on this (see picture). I was hoping to get one that you could actually kinda sit on but would still be pretty small.
Can anyone recommend a shop (preferably new england) that makes custom leaning posts (or standard ones that might work) that are reasonably priced? I am not looking for the gold plated, ultra cushioned, storage boxes with a gazillion rocket launchers off the back.
Thanks for any help.

I have a Jones Bros Cape Fisherman LT 2000 that I had the factory install a Birdsall Mini Rocket launcher leaning post in to give me more casting space in the stern than the standard JB leaning post--it's about10 inches narrower in the fore-aft dimension. Bidsall's basic model is about $600 and built to last. wwwbirdsallmarine.com. You will have to pay freight from FL though.

Your marina can order a prefab one from Taco marine for about $700.00 (http://www.tacomarine.com/diypages/neptune.htm)
I checked several Tee-top fabricators that said they no longer make leanings post but instead install the Taco product. They can't make one of this quality for this price. I just put one in and am very happy

I have looked at all the pre-fab ones and they will not work in the 1910LT. It is a very different setup than the typical center console. As you can see in the picture (sorry its sideways!), the console is fairly close to the aft casting platform. Thus the leaning post configuration that JB sells is secured to the deck and to the casting platform - no room for 4 legged leaning posts or even the fat two pedestal posts. I need someone ot make a really good setup that will work like the JB post but that will have more of a seat to it.
Thanks for the responses. Keep 'em coming.

There is a guy named Billy Martin who works out of (Westport?) CT. He did a custom leaning post for me a few years back that was a perfect fit for what I needed. I'm not sure if he's still in the business, I'll try to dig up his number.

There are a few companies out there that make a single pedastal leaning post, Todd is one of them.

There should be a custom builder in your area that can help you. If not, Birdsall Marine Design can build anything you like. They have high quality and can ship to you. Call Bobby Birdsall @ 561 832 7879 (West Palm Bch, FL).
