Is it me or did I miss something? Why is there so little chatter on the boards, is the fishing that good?
Also, in John's reports, I can't see how to actually read what so-and-so reports. Am I doing something wrong or did the revamp mess things up a bit.
Enough questions, go fish.

There's probably a couple reasons why the board might seem a little less active, including: 1. Peter "Tuna" Rothwell is no longer with us to provide a colorful weekly report; and 2. Most of the regulars on this board are weekend warriors and the weekend weather (except last weekend) has sucked.
From time to time the NY/NJ board has languished for periods and then come back to life. I'm sure the same will happen again.

hey you guys. yeah, it's quiet... i didn't start catching fish till 4/20, which is about a month late, so i am assuming everything is late, including guys posting on the board. anyway, i hope everyone is catching fish, they're out there.

Email me some info on what you use for an Operating System and Browser. I'm trying to figure out why some people are having probems. mncahill@gmail.com
Same goes for anyone else with a display problem on the Fishwire.
My bet there's a piece of fruit involved...

i got a couple of emails, thanks guys!
It's not just an apple issue, but I have a very good idea what's happening and I think I can resolve it with minimal trouble. I may ask you guys to have a look during the week...

Also not much to report, spotting a few fish during the day, hearing a few at night, none kind enough to bite those last 2 outings.

Just giving a heads up.... I hit the beaches of IBSP with Shell E. of shorecatch guide service on wednesday 6/15 and spotted large schools of bunker about 150 ft off the beach with bass busting through. Gave the fly rod a shot but per Shell E. advice stopped being stubborn and tried using his spinning tackle. We live lined bunker(my first time) and pulled tight to a beautiful 33 lber and another 20lber. Great fish. Would have been amazing on the 9wt, but unfortunatley out of my casting range. We then caught multiple small blues in the inlet on jiggies. It was a great day and although I felt like I was cheating on my fly rod, I got to admit, it was kind of worth it. Bottom line, fish and I mean big ones are out there, just need a little luck and right time of day to catch them. Good luck
This board is eerily quiet...Man alive, you'd think no one was doing any fishing in this area. Well, I'm not sure how many folks on this board fish the western sound, but here's a report:
Went out at first light on an incoming tide by kayak in Rye, NY, fished with fly and tube 'n worm around the rocks for a steady pick of 20-24" stripers. Fish on the fly hit a chartreuse and white polar-fleece deceiver-looking fly, 3-4" long. Saw multiple pods of very large adult bunker (these things were huge), that seemed to be harrassed sporadically by something, but couldn't tell what. Guys in boats were going right past them, seemed not to notice.
Okay. That's the report. Nothing special, but a nice morning on the water. C'mon, let's get some life on these boards -- even if it's about an area I never fish, I need them to break up the boring work days.

well the flats are full of fish out in Gardiners/Peconic. this is my first day off in 12 and need it bad, although it is perfect and sunny which is a drag. strangely quiet out on the water as well. I was near Sag Harbor fri and had a total of 2 boats leave the harbor in 3 hours I was near there?? I guess the fact that unless the sun is out, it feels like it is November might have something to do with it!!!
Here are a few shots from this week
