I took the canoe over to sampson's island today to fished the channel and some of my other usual hot spots along the island. I actually used eels for the first time this year and also 7 inch rubber. I was hoping to actually catch my first blue of the year seeing I have heard they were in the area but, didn't see any signs of them anywhere. There were quite a few people fishing throughout the day in the vacinity and no one seemed to be catching anything on the fly and the spin. I however, did o.k. but not great with only one fish just over 30 inches and about 8 or 9 in the 22-28 class, mostly on the eels. I know this is a flyfishing forum but man, fish always will take an eel in that area. Lots of misses for me too, I am assuming from smaller fish. It looks like the harsh winter actually had an effect in that area too which seemed to have created a nice rip in a new spot on the outgoing that looks awesome. :brow
