Going to be camping in the Pittsfield State Forest this weekend.

Any advice on spots to fish in the area?

Thanks in advance.

I fished the Glendale stretch of the Hous with my brother this spring, and it was dynamite. Not too far from Pittsfield.

Here's the catch, though. Between June 15 and (I think) August 31st, there's no fishing within 100 feet of feeder streams, as they provide warm water refuge. If the water is warm, give the fish a break anyway.

If water is colder than normal, then they'll be spread out. The flyshop in Great Barrington is 10 minutes away (www.dryflies.com , which has some good info.) good luck.

Thanks,

I used to Turkey hunt in this area quite a bit. Lake Onedia and stock bridge bowl are both nearby and offer some great fishing for both warm and coldwater. Both spots have nice swimming beached to. The park itself has at least one remote Beaver pond that feeds a stream that holds Native Brook Trout .I assume they are natives because they were only 3-5" long. The stream ends up feeding a stocked stream down the line. I can give you the general location offline if you want to PM me. It is a nice park, just be careful of your surroundings, Pittsfield has some real inner city problems. I have found a couple of real nice swimming\fishing holes in that area where the locals made it clear that I should not be there.

Good Luck
Mike
