Launched out of Barnstable Harbor about midmorning, and headed out into Cape Cod bay. It was incredible calm. Great conditions for seeing fish splashes. Worked my way north goting slow trolling a couple lines while using binonulars to scan the area. From the fishing ledge headed NE until I was out of the Bay (thus by my own definition now offshore) Reached my predermined margin on gas since I did not start with a full tank and head Back south. Saw no tuna but did see two finback whales.

Bob,

I headed out of Barnstable yesterday around 5pm into the bay. Went off Plymouth, over to the Ledge, then SE towards Billingsgate. I would stop to scan with the binocs every 20 minutes or so, and saw nothing as well. I have an 18'er, and don't like to leave the confines of the Bay, but it seems to me the tuna might be just outside of the bay in better numbers. But who knows with these fish.

Conditions were getting a little choppy with the SW wind picking up around 6:30, but that was out in the middle of the bay. Overall a beautiful evening.

On the way back in I caught a bunch of blues and small bass at horseshoe and mussel pt...fun fun!
