Does any one have any updates? Have they arrived yet? I'm wondering if it is worth while getting up early this weekend.

It's a little early still, but you might get the scouts or active holdovers--there is really only one way to find out.

I was in Boston harbor today and yesterday. Didn't get started intil around 9am. Checked out the area around Long Island and also Hingham. There was nothing going on. didn't see one fish not even a trailer.

Too early. Try in a week or two. They should be there in good numbers by the third week.

By this time last year I had my first keeper of the year at Black's Creek. 29", covered with sea lice. I fell over backward and doused my waders backing the fish to shore! used a 3 1/2" soft plastic shad. Black's Creek is consistently one of the best early producers of sizeable schoolies, running at least one week ahead of the harbor in general.

Larry - I fished the CG piers today for about 45 minutes. Nothing felt, nothing seen. Usually they congragate under the pilings and ambush the herring going up the river. I think maybe in a week or so we might have some luck.

Ed - I'm unfamilliar with black's creek. (my fist year fishing the harbor with a boat) Is it accessable/fishable by boat? - Mark

Black's Creek is a small estuarial outlet at the southern end of Wollaston Beach, Quincy. It has a very strong out flow after high tides. Fish it about two hours after high tide. You can fish the rips downstream from the bridge on either side.Clousers, rubber shads are very successful.

Ed - Thanks. I've actually fished there dozens of times and have never known the name.
