It's almost over...

Worked the area with a buddy this morning and into early afternoon. Early AM around slack we were casting to a few fish in a foot of water but no hookups...The place was full of bait, sand eels, crabs and peanut bunker but not many bass at all. One reason could be pointed towards the influx of BLUES up on the flats. Another reason could be the wimpy tides. But the main reason, the flats season is almost over. I really didn't see many fish at all. Maybe 30 bass total, including a few 25lb summer cows...Did I mention how annoying the sun was today? Played peek-a-boo all day which screwed up a few shots also.

On a positive note, my buddy hooked up with a few blues using zoom flukes....I myself, decided to throw the 8weight today since the wind wasn't bad. Made a 28inch fish I landed feel like a 36...Fish took a boat load of backing, what a ride and probably one of the last, at least on the flats this year...Hopefully there is one more of push of fish over there before the end...We'll see...Could have been those NE winds prior to today that put a damper on the action...

It's the wind. Never had great fishing with the Northeast wind. FishHawk
