Was beginning to troll in 30' of water along western Buzzards Bay when I heard a "sphoof" sound over my shoulder. Lo and behold, small pod of 2-3 dolphins were surfacing to breathe about 25' away. They kept circling the area for about 2 hours, surfacing every 5-10 mins or so. Had so much fun watching them I hardly fished.

Anyone know what they might've been eating? The schools of smallish blues that I'd seen earlier in the week were nowhere to be found.

Can't get my picture to post. Will try again later.

Flotsam,
Not sure what seeing dolphins in bbay means for fishing but I think it's not all that uncommon. I recall one year when we had a pod of dolphins up to the route six bridge in the Weweantic river. That same year a large hammerhead was encountered off Bird Island. All in August.
