Yesterday I had Dick Carroll *uffdoc* and his buddy Seuse out for some tuna action. We landed a half dozen fish in short order but nothing really big enough to put in the box. Today we were back at it and my brother from Colorado came along. We steamed through the back bays on our way to the inlet to a gorgeous sunrise.

Upon arriving at the grounds we found the whales active and a half dozen boats already working them. We deployed our spread and immediately had a rat bluefin to the boat for a quick release...This event repeated itself over and over as we pushed out away from the fleet in hopes of something larger.

By 10 am we were headed a few miles east of the fleet finding our own bait pods which started to look pretty impressive on the sounder. We changed up the spread by putting the bars on the long riggers with birds up the middle down short and long....
We had a good idea how big a fish was on the 30's by how long and fast the first run was and we had already released 15 for the morning. Then the port rigger goes and I saw the hit and it was more aggressive than what we had been seeing for the last two days.....The 30 was singing good and still singing so I knew we had a fish that would be worth keeping! We got the spread in and settled my brother in for the fight.....He has little standup experience but did very well fighting this fish....It measured 64 inches....After bleeding and icing in the hold we made a run for the barn before the easterly winds picked up.
Great day on the water with friends and family...

Yeehaw, and nice job. If you don't mind, might you pass on what kind of rig and color the fish hit?

Thanks, and great sunrise pics too!
