Was debating (masterfully) about the effects of Ophelia and Full Moon fishing on the bite in RI sound. It has been pretty slow.
Do you think the storm will get things moving in a positive direction or just muck up the works?
Do you experience better or worse fishing around the full moon?
How DID they build Stonehedge? (#$119)

IMHO in the past it seems to me that the water column gets shaken up pretty good displacing the warm water and making the water quite murky thus displacing much of the baitfish...therefore, the fish head to the deep and await calmer clearer conditons..but when things settle down, look out! they usually turn on big time a few days after weather like that passes...as far as full moon, always been a favorite time of mine to fish..high water, plenty o lite all contribute to better nighttime visiblity for our pelagic friends, and thus greater likelihood of getting into em.

FWIW, the best session of surf casting for stripers I have ever had was on a rising tide, with a southwesterly breeze, setting sun and rising full moon...I was kicking fish in the foam at the beach in Charlestown and having a ball. :brow

Right now we are in the beginning of the first stage of the fall
migration. Usually at this time the baitfish forage has now moved toward the shores and bays to feed on planton and such. the second stage really hasn't started yet. So I see no effects of this storm effecting the fall migration of fish.
If we were later in the season and the big push had already started, these fish would move out to sea and bypass many of the shore areas we fish.
Hopefully after a few days the seas will lay down and clear and no other surges will effect us. But that's wishful thinking. Mother Nature has her way.
