Alberta

I am back on the east coast for the first time in a while the last week of september. I'm hoping to hit some of the Cape's kettle ponds as I used to when I lived here. Here's the problem; I threw gear then and now I'm a fly guy.
What are some good patterns/techniques for this time of year? Any tips would help a bunch. Thanks
...if anyone is out in the calgary alberta area let me know, and I'll give you the goods on our trout.

small size 8 - 12, bead/cone head wooly buggers, leech flies. brown, olive black and at times white should all work. sinking line. vary your retrieves. im sure there are more specific flies others may be able to help w/ and i havent fished down there in a few years but those were our go to flies and should be able to fool some fish. good luck.

Yup.... #6-#12 wooly buggers. Some weighted, some
not. Brown, olive, black favorite colors. Also, bunny
flies (leech) in olive and black.
Trout fishing is better later in the season.

I fish the cape ponds in the early spring and late fall. My go-to fly is a small muddler size 14 with a black marabou tail. If they are rising I have luck with small loop-wing emergers, para-adams. For nymphs I have pheasant tails, prince nymphs, caddis pupae.
I love those kettle ponds - you can't beat em.
