rocks village

hit the merrimack at rocks village yesterday. all in all a great outing! didn't catch much, just one schoolie that i managed to troll up while i was traversing the river in my kayak. my intention was to fish for some shad but they didn't seem to be around !
can anyone tell me if there are any other likely spots i can try on the merrimack that might hold some shad at this time of year?

There were a lot of people fishing near the 495 bridge near Lawrence this morning. I assume that they were after shad.

I went friday - great action on the falling tide. hit the saem tide this a.m. and nothing but 2 12" bass. go figure. spoke to a fellow who said there was decent shad action up in lawrence..

I was in North Andover Friday PM and stopped to watch a group of guys fishing shad off Sutton street (just down from the 495 bridge) In 15 min I saw 8-9 fish caught. On my way home I stopped at Rocks Village. 20-25 guys fishing and I didn't see one fish.
