In spring (or is it summer already? ;-)), the fish are where and when you find them, especially from shore. If you happen to be where a school passes through, you connect. If not, you don't and you move to another hopeful spot.

Started the morning with a six-hour Canal livelining and jigging session, through low slack to nearly high slack. Downright cold for most of the morning, and saw only one schoolie caught between 50 or so people. Had a couple of schoolie-like tugs, which were more likely hyperactive herring. Checked out Old Bridge Rd. Guys there weren't doing anything at start of west-running either.

On Cape south side, Bass River mouth was dead at end of incoming, but High Bank had the usual allotment of twinkies. They were also catching somewhat bigger ones on bait off West Dennis Beach.

At Osterville (Dowses Beach), connected with numbers of schoolies in the channel on the mid outgoing, including one larger fish that was way too much for the trout rod I was using and snapped off. The problem with this place is getting a clean cast. It is rarely mung-free.

Cotuit mouth was dead at low slack but several informed me that the upper bay was hot. No surprise there.

Went back to Osterville at nearly nightfall. What I can only assume was bait was popping all over the channel, because they wouldn't take anything. Also, someone took a 25 inch bass just before I got there.
