Boston harbor Channel 16

I'm no specialist with the VHF but I swear channel 16 was screwed up in the harbor yesterday afternoon. It was like someone had the key locked down the whole time starting like 1:30 for a couple hours. Couldn't squelch it away so took 16 off of the radio memory. Is my radio screwed up or someone else experience the same thing?

That happens to me sometimes too. Did you try turning on and off other elect's in your boat? Sometimes when that happens to me, if I turn off the fishfinder it goes away. I bet Dale H has an explanation...

I turned off eveything else to be sure but it was still there. All the other channels were coming through fine - plenty of other conversations on other channels and coast guard notices on 22 - but 16 was like someone was pressing the key but not talking.

Sometimes people set down their mike so that the transmit button is pressed. At least it not so bad if they have a radio playing with decent music.

Now that you mention it, my radio kept stopping it's scan on 16 too :confused:
