Don't know where Tripp's Dock is but we were fishing the mouth. We arrived at High tide and fished the drop till 2:00. Expectations were low as it's still early but we were hoping for some small early arrivals. After a slow start on the island we moved to Horseneck and worked our way to the mouth. At the mouth, Paul hooked a 28" (+/- 2", we didn't have a ruler) which gave his new Ross SW a good workout and then hooked another 25". Shortly thereafter, I gave the wood to good sized one with my new 10 wt St. Croix. It was one those where you ram the hook home but the fish didn't budge and appeared to be mildly annoyed that something poked him. I had him on for about 10 sec before my tippet parted. Morale: Replace tippet when you see a wind knot as you never know when a big boy will hit. Paul took one more schoolie before we departed. All in all, a great start to the season.
