Two brothers and I are going to Harkers from Nov 12 through the 18th. I’ll be taking my 20’ SeaCraft. It’s our first time there and I’m just starting to gather the supplies I’ll be needing for this road trip. I have a couple questions.

- If anyone else is going to be there then, I’d be happy to exchange cell #s so we can compare notes on the fishing, food, etc.

- I need to start tying flies. Any suggestions are welcome. There are some patterns mentioned in the archives and found via google, but what is often missing is size info. What is normally the most common size fly/hooks for clouser types, candies and mushies?

- Brothers will be using conv/spin gear. Any suggestions on tackle to bring?

- What other fishing options exist if the Albies or weather are not cooperating? The boat is pretty seaworthy for a 20’ and I can also get around in about 14” using troll n tabs.

- What VHF channels do folks monitor down there?

I’ll have paper charts and bluecharts of the area along with the normal safety items and redundant electronics, etc.

Any other advice for this jouney would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Quickest answers would probably come from the captains who post here on the Mid Atlantic forum, Capt. Joe Shute, Capt. Gordon Churchill(?). The First Light guys are also in the know big time.

Give us a call at the shop we have been guiding there seven seasons now and can fill you in on patterns and the rest, Joe Shute is also a great reference, his shop is Cape lookout fly shop atlantic beach NC. We will be in Atlantic beach OCt 20 -Nov 24 staying at the fishermans inn. Good luck and swing by the hotel some evening as there is usually a group of us discussing the days fishing over a few beers nearly every night. Nat 978 948 7004 :brow
