I have read of tarpon, bones, permit and snook around the main island of Antigua, but nothing about Jumby Bay. If anybody has fished Jumby Bay, particularly in January/February, I would appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks.

I did all of my searching for fish on the main island of Antigua on the Northwest and Southwest side. There is every type of gamefish there that you could want but it can be tough to find them and I did not find it to be consistant...

Your resort appears to be on Long Island on the Northeast coast.

I did hear that one great guide down there fishes that area.

I have never been to Antigua, but since you said you are heading down in January/February, I can add some input. As with most flats fishing areas, January and February are not the most productive months for Tarpon. Tarpon are migratory fish, and most islands see the larger tarpon from April to September, peak months being June to August. Of course, there will be tarpon present, but mostly small resident ones (which can be a blast on an 8 weight!). I am not sure about bonefish and permit because I have not fished Antigua, and I do not know how their resident season works and when the fish are feeding most heavily on the flats. What I can tell you, however, is to expect alot of action with sharks and barracuda. Barracuda are one of the most underrated game fish around; they have lightening fast runs, and are quite acrobatic. Catching a 4-5 foot cuda in 2 feet of water is a thrill, and it will make your reel scream. I am sure Antigua has a great barracuda population, and don't skip on them because they can make a fishing trip. I reccommending some type of ballyhoo (needlefish) imitation fly, but remember to bring lots because cuda's teeth tear em up pretty good. Also, remember to have some wire leaders in your arsenal. Hope this helps.
