Spent the last 2.5 hours of the outgoing tide this morning working the mouth of the Merrimack. Results: one 20" fish and one sore right arm. There were 5-10 seals on patrol and very little bird activity. The water was very cold and, according to my taste buds, not too salty. Does anyone know where to find salinity and temperature data on the web? I know there are some environmental bouys scattered about.

Here's one link that has some buoy readings:

Fished PI with Don Osmer this morning. Tried several locations with no luck. Lots of birds in front of the Captain's Lady, definitely eating something.
Talked to one guy with an RV who claimed he and his wife caught several fish last night off the beach at Plum Island point.(on bait) Said they got 1 keeper, 31". Who knows?
Also heard that a few fish were taken from the beach front last night.
A few guys on Joppa as I was driving home.
Lot's of shad reported at Rocks Village.

Interestingly, I haven't looked there for over a week, and I noticed that the sea temp has rised to almost 49F at 7PM. That's up from 41F a week ago. FYI, I've noticed that the magic temperature is 52F - that's when stripers get really active, and blues start to show up.

Fished Sat. AM with a guy from work at Deer Isle early, the mouth, then the south end and didn't get a strike. Only saw one fish caught, probably yours at the mouth. Also fished the mouth for an hour on Thurs. with the same result.
I'm sure they'll be here heavy by next week.
