anyone famillar with it? It seems like an interesting concept. Fact or Fiction?
I see they have gotten into flourocarbon? Their 3X is almost a half pound weaker than the Grand Max Seagur...
if it matters....primary uses spring fishing in Maine(early) and great lakes steelhead 60% nymphin 40% streamers....

i let the stuff stay in a drawer after i broke fish after fish off. perhaps knots better if tied to its own leader, but otherwise if ound it breaking very easily compared to at least three other kinds of tippet. it unrolls nicer for dry fly fishing was only bonus i could say about it. your welcome to my stash 3x-6x spools. im thinking first weekend of november for chrome. kinda stuck with kate for october if i know whats good for me. are you thinking weekend or weekday. let me know so i can block out time

yeah... what he said: I found the line okay, but
the knot strength was inferior.
Used it hard for a week or so, then chucked what
I'd not used.

A friend of mine tried it this summer... I've never heard such words come out of his mouth.

Frogs hair tippet is SUPERIOR (monofiliment) to all other brands I have tried for DRY FLY FISHING. When nymphing for chrome I use Rio Fluoroflex Plus. When bonefishing I use Airflow Sightfree fluorocarbon (better turnover in wind).

Frog hair is good stuff...I fully converted last year...The stuff does penalize you for bad knots though. You have to take time with your blood knots and make sure you use saliva to aid when tightening up the knot. Make sure you test the knots a few times after you tie them. The problems are related to the stiffess/softness of the different sizes, fluro vs. mono and how they connect...The other thing about the tippet is it doesn't jump sizes well after 2X...SO plan on using 3-4-5-6X....Not going 3-5-7x...
I use the regular mono for all situations in the fresh, except when fishing below the surface I use 4X fluro for tippet...
If you do what I said above, you will find the stuff superior to say climax or Maxima...
#1-7X Frog hair is like 5X maxima in strength.. So number one, you can go smaller in diameter and not suffer strength.
#2-Frog hair lays out amazing...It's so soft and nice for presentation, but still hard enough to punch in wind...That's what they tell you, and I'm telling you it's no lie...Have you ever been throwing line, and watch your tippet leader not lay out straight and smash the water? It's very frustrating to say the least...Doesn't happen with this stuff if the leader/tippet is tied correctly and you can cast...
All in all I highly recommend it...Good luck!

There was a spacific knot they pushed at the shows. With other knots I had similar experiences, but with the knot the show reps used (forget the name but there is a daigram on thier web site) it didn't break often. I like the stuff, but not more than Seaguar.

interesting....great input. Thank you
we sold it at Old Salt,(before we closed) and I dealt with the rep prior to purchasing it. I used it quite a bit in Maine and in the salt. I like it very much, but if you don't tie your knot correctly, it will slip. I can't remember the knot he explained to me that should be tied, so I just added more turns on the clinch and made sure they were perfectly in line, and it worked out fine.
It is very expensive though.
I told the rep that most people would rather not learn a new knot especially when night fishing, because most of us are very comfortable with the knots we know and like.
