An interesting new boat to be rolled out by Hobie later this month:

Should allow you to cover a lot more water, and fish while you're moving!
Hearing its going to retail for $1800 however, which seems a bit steep.
I'll be interested to hear the reviews as people get these boats on the water.

Looks fast. That might be the first hobie you could actually paddle
At least they're getting lighter. This one shows at 60lbs, so getting it off the car to the pull cart should work. I know the other models were gut busters.
Looks like us cheaper guys are going to wait on used. I'd bet that Charles River and Hopkinton Reservoir have used ones the end of season next year.

Looks interesting but how do you steer when pedaling? There is a rudder but it doesnt look like it is connected to any steering cables - and your feet are already in the pedals. So if you are fishing the wash or rocks in the yak it might be hard to work your way around without having the paddle out anyway. Also, there is no reverse so if you are in tight or trying to hold off a rock, the only control you have is forward in whatever direction the kayak is pointed.
Seems like it might be better for open water touring and cruising - or running and gunning for SBFT!!! Soon guys will be at the gym doing squats to get Eric Heiden style legs and then retrofitting their Hobie yaks with bigger fins!! Just think, spinning and fly guys can run and gun to get to breaking fish and you can even troll full spreads off this thing at 8 knots!!

There is a hand controlled rudder, which apparently will stay in position after being adjusted, to maintain the hands free nature of operating the kayak.
I think you can peddle backwards as well - but not sure about that.
You can sail this bugger too, not that I think I would trust myself to
