I’m taking this year off… Be sure to catch a few small tarpon for me while you’re down there, will yah?
I'm going a little earlier than normal next trip...will be there the second week in Feb; darn, I would have liked to have met up with ya. I will try to leave some fish there for you, but I'm not making any promises about the Red Stripe beer supply!!!

I'm over on St. Croix but wouldn't mind getting together with some other fly-minded guys on St. John, I'm just a seaplane ride away. I've seen a bunch of great spots over there that I wanted to hit, but didn't have the gear with me.
As for St. Croix, I finally found a fly-fishing partner over here and we've been hitting the southshore flats every weekend. Yesterday we also tried Sandy Point and got a few smaller permit. I talked to Park Ranger Mike yesterday or as he's more commonly known, "da fooking ranger mon" and he told me that in March the tarpon are pretty thick there. I'm sharpening my hooks now...

Gill-Man,
I'm thinking about renting a boat for 1/2 day down at Cruz Bay when I'm there in Feb and trolling/throwing hardware off the points on the northwest side of St.John-Do you have any experience with this kind of thing or got any recommendations?
"da fooking ranger mon"
ROTFLMAO! :brow
I can just hear those guys saying that. --125-3

echo,
The North face of Congo Cay, just to the North of Cruz Bay holds some decent fish throughout the day. If the wind is a bit rough on that side, try Ram’s head and Flanagan’s island. You can catch bottom fish, jacks, kings, ceros, cudas, and on occasion some little tunas (yellowfin, blackfin, Albies)… The Tuna are hit or miss, but something is almost always around.
The Horse eye’s light up right around high tide. They like larger then expected food.
Good luck!
Thanks OceanRunner, that's great info. Can you make any lure recommendations?

I'll be on St. Thomas Jan. 28th to Feb 6th. 2006 Looking for a fishing partner for the BVI or USVI. I'm having trouble finding a cheap air fare to Anegada, Claire Aero is out of biz.
Would be willing to fish St. Croix or St. John depending on travel ease from St. T.
I lived on St. Croix for ten years and know the country well.
Fished Anegada 2001
Worked on Vieques US Navy.
Spent 3 years Puerto Rico US Navy, know Fajardo area well.
