Winthrop????

I have never fished the Winthrop area before. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, in advance.

definitely bring ear plugs!!!! the fishing can be good, but those airplanes can get VERY annoying...i have no idea
how the residents handle it!

Are you fishing from shore or a boat. I fish the area from boat. On the ocean side you want to fish the five sisters. Those are the rock breakwaters on the ocean beach side. They can be waded to at low tide but it is very tricky to do. please be careful I almost lost a friend out there. There are stripers all around snake Island but it needs at least a small boat to get there. there is a flat on the shore across from the airport. I took a 40 inch fish off that flat last year. Also have taken schoolies off beach at Beachmont station.

If you are fishing from shore there is a beach and sand bar which is supposed to be pretty good. If you look at a map of Winthrop it's on the ocean side and almost at the end of Winthrop. To the left of the beach is a large striped water tank on a hill. There is plenty of street parking next to the beach. The sand bar runs out into the water on the left side of the beach. Depending on the wind the planes land there and it'll scare the waders off you the first time it happens.
