View Full Version : Any interest in a No Shore "tuna rigging" get together?

FYI:

Trying to plan a SAT or SUN get together for like-minded individuals to share tips and techniques on rigging offshore tuna lures, like spreader bars et al.

Anyone interested? I'll bring rigging videos & DVDs, spreader bars, Green Machines, and more rigging paraphenalia (sp?) from John White of Fisherman's Outfitter's to show/share with newbies.

Location Options:I have a location at my Fish & Game Club in Middleton, MA that has a large projection TV for DVDs and videos, but as the rifle ranges will be open, no alcohol could be consumed. Another option would be the upstairs room at the Starboard Galley in N'Port.

Timing: Thinking about the week before the Superbowl ... or after, as people dictate.

Chime in with thoughts and ideas!

If I am not in Florida I will come and bring gear and such to show how to rig if people would like that. If anyone wants to learn about rigging trolling baits I can do that too.

I would be interested in attending. Although I may end up purchasing rigged spreader bars, it would be worthwhile to learn what colors, sizes, and styles are working for others.

Please keep me in the loop.

Dale,

Id love to join you guys. Maybe I will remember to bring your knife... (#$119)

One bit of advice, if Leighton is really planning to attend, I would double, no make that triple the amount of alcohol you're planning to buy. --123-3

Same here. Good idea.

Since I was planning on rigging one or two anyway over the winter, I'm in for bringing a naked bar or two, crimp stuff, and some shell squids for that and chains.

Would also like to expand the email list for us northern tuna anglers. We started a list this year and it was helpfull to all on local tuna activity. Maybe we can
have an email sign up sheet at the seminar for anyone who would like to be on it. I don't think this would create a "spot burning" problem since the hotspot
information would only be shared with anglers on the email list. General information and general locations can still be posted on Reel-Time. I don't know
about you guys, but I never had to compete against other boats north of Cape
Ann. The fish seemed to be spread out enough so everyone had their space.
The big plus is we can cut down on fuel costs by not having to search all over
creation to find fish. It would benefit us all if we educate each other as to tuna techniques and etiquette on the water.

I'd love to do this. I'm new to the sbft fishing, this was my first year, and usually launch at Hampton. I got some casts into fish, but never hooked one. Sign me up. --127-3-

Great Idea! If people are interested in using the old antique building behind our shop, we are now renting it for fly tying and seminars. It would be perfect for this type of event as it has plenty of space and good lighting. It would also be free and I am sure I could get Ipswich Ale to donate "Free Beer!!" :-% Let me know, Derek

Now wait a minute,...Are we going to get together to "learn" some new tips on fishing or are we going to tip a few brewskis :-% :-% :-% to just get out of the house ? If that's the "case" ,make it a 1 drink limit. --125-3

Dale, are you getting the feeling that this idea of yours is a hit? And it's not even winter yet! As one who always wants to learn more from the experienced and successful how can I not go?. Need to pick up some pointers on techniques and equipment. Never have enough of both. Count me in!
