This is my first post on this website. I'm a Surf Fisherman from Seaside Heights, NJ. Sorry, I haven't used a Fly rod in the salt but don't hold that against me. I see Bob Popovics on the beach all the time and read his book.

I have known Captain Paul Koopman both personally and professionally for 15 years. I'm privileged to be considered his friend. I was the person that was "quoted" in the closed thread by Tommat.

The event in question happened over 4 years ago. It revolved around a fishing report. Everybody involved appologized and it was forgotten. At least in my mind it was.

Paul and I have fished together many times before the incident including a 6 person Shark Charter out of Montauk. We had a blast.

Would I fish with Paul again? In a heartbeat. Paul's knowledge of the LI Sound is impeccible. His personality and wit makes him fun to be around. Nobody will work harder to put you on fish. Those of you that have been lucky enough to fish with him certainly will back me up.

I found Paul's Guide Service website on google last week when I was approached by Tommat. I read the reports and saw the pictures of happy people with fish. Do I believe his reports? Why wouldn't I?

Paul is it too early to book you next season? 'Nuff said about this.

That thread has inspired a host of new users to come out of the woodwork to flame or come to the defense of Koop. All of which have been here for a long time yet never posted an ounce of content. Similar scenario occured on the NE board.

The validity of the report was questioned, as was his motive for the initial post. There is nothing wrong with those opinions. Some came to his defense with stories of personal experiences like yours, opinions that were just as welcome. It turned sour quickly by harsh words from a few parties and was locked.

Let's please not start this all over again.

Let's please not start this all over again.

Sorry ruge13 if I upset you and the board.

When I found out this afternoon that something I wrote in a PM on another fishing board was plastered here... it got me a tad "upset". That it was taken out of context to boot. Well, I just wanted to clear the air.

Thank you for the use of the board.

No problem, I just want to avoid what happened on the other thread. My response was not only directed to you, but the everyone.

I thought this might be the right time to remind the NEW Reel-Time members of their rights here.

Quote:

Reel-Time has been around since 1995 and we've learned a thing or two about how to run an efficient forum. These rules are set up to ensure a smooth running and friendly site for all who visit.

1. Remember that there are youngsters amongst us. Keep it clean.
2.Flaming, trolling, baiting, taunting, personal attacks and slander, or anything we judge to be of the same ilk, are not allowed and will result in deletion of the post and/or banning of the offending party, and this will be done with or without notice at our discretion.
3. Commercial posts are not allowed from anyone but Reel-Time Sponsors. If you have a commercial message contact us for the appropriate means to convey that to our readers. Offenders will be treated as those in item #2.
4. Links to commercial websites, competitors, or anyone else we don't like, are not allowed. These too will be removed, and repeated violation will be subject to punishment as per #2.
5. Cross-posting [posting material on forums across the Internet], copying copyrighted material from other sites, padding your posts with extraneous reams of textbook-like material to make it seem like you know what you are talking about will not be tolerated and will be subject to punishment as per item #2.
6. Be nice or be gone. Period. There are places on the Internet you can go to be a jerk. This is not one of them.

Remember, we have put a lot of time and effort into making this your top fly fishing destination on the net. We intend to keep it that way. Too that end, we reserve the right to cancel, delete, alter, reuse, fold, spindle, mutilate anything you post here. Seriously, our word is the final say on our site.

Sit up straight and eat your peas...

Please read item #6 again. It is the most important thing you should know about Reel-Time. Now let's talk about Saltwater Fly Fishing.

It's been a crazy week on this site with a lot of anger and support but little fishing info. We are all here to share common interests and keep it REEL.
My reports will be "uptodate" and accurate as they have been for the past 4 years. Last year I was a sponsor and may sign up next year as an active contributing sponsor to this great web site.

Ruge,
My reports will be about fishing and not advertising.
I appreciate you keep everyone in check including me.

Arby,
Long Time no fish with!
Sorry for the controversy and confusion.
With the season nearing its end lets get together for some fishing.
Maybe get the "13" guys back together for a day of toothy critters or stripes.
I'm sure Eric could use some exercise.

Thanks
