Lot's of Fish around!
From Fairfield to Greenwich and across to the North Shore of Long Island, there are plenty of Bass and Blues for the Fall Angler to catch both on a fly and spin. Pennfield Reef has been fishing well with nice pods of healthy bass chasing bunker to 5". Blues have also been raging along the reef during the day. The Norwalk Island's, which were a sleep for October and beginning of November, have come alive with action. Many of the rips and rocks have bass holding on them. Darien and Stamford have good action at Holly Pond and the Cows. Greenwich is been fishing very well along Todd's Point and back to Byram. Great Captains Island has had big schools of mature Bunker hiding along its shores which have been discovered by the bass and blues. Northport, Huntington, Cold Spring and Oyster Bay are fishing very well with the ultra clear water making it easy to sight fish for bass along the beaches. Huge flocks of Terns and Seagulls can be seen diving on the blitzes from miles away. Incredible amounts of bait is holding in the Western Sound. In my estimation we have at least a month of tremendous fishing in front of us. If these warm air temps stay in place for a little while longer the Sound water temp will stay above 50 and prolong the Fall Run.
Flies of choice are 1/2 and 1/2's or deceivers, also poppers will work in the blitzes and along the beaches, Flashy Ceivers a great when you have blues in the area. Check out the attached blitz photo..............
Good Luck

Well, looks like the "little while longer" for warm temps is now about eight hours. After that, looks like we're in for big changes: cooler than normal temps and maybe even a coastal storm next week.

Joev,
The bass are averaging around 25" but the bigger ones are holding in deeper water and have made pushes into the shallows to feed on the plentifull bunker stashes. Several Bass over 30" have been hooked over the past week with one monster breaking me off right next to the boat last Tuesday. It's not Montauk but it is very consistent.

FMW,
from years prior these cold snaps are great for supper charging the bass and blues. Coastal stroms can realy turn up volume on action and push more fish into the feed zone. Protected areas like the norwalk Islands become havens for big fish and bait into December.

Good Luck
